TalkSpace Therapy Reviews Nov 2021
Since its founding in 2012, Talkspace has helped over one million people struggling with mental health issues. The platform’s variety of services makes it stand out in the online therapy field: in addition to counseling and therapy for individuals, couples, and teens, Talkspace also offers psychiatry and employer-sponsored mental health services for workplaces. It’s also one of the few platforms that accepts insurance, although the number of providers is limited—check with your provider to see if you qualify. Learn more about Talkspace:
About the Therapists
After taking an initial questionnaire to determine your needs, you’ll be matched with one of Talkspace’s 1,000-plus licensed, verified, and HIPPA-compliant therapists. Every therapist is also vetted through a background check. If you ultimately feel your therapist isn’t a good fit for you, Talkspace will match you with a new one.
Frequency and Methods of Communication
Every Talkspace membership includes Unlimited Messaging Therapy—which means you can send text messages to your therapist as often as you like, or at any hour. Therapists respond one to two times per day. If you’d rather communicate via audio or live video, you can schedule those conversations online or through the Talkspace app.
Areas of Expertise
Talkspace’s counselors are ready to talk to you about any issues or problems in your life, from everyday stresses to more specialized situations, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse. The platform also offers compassionate and specialized care for LGBTQ clients, as well as for military veterans.
Currently, Talkspace’s supplementary programs include free resources for managing stress during the COVID-19 pandemic with every subscription. Members can also opt in to a 12-week program for battling social media dependency.
Couples Counseling
Talkspace offers couples counseling, which can help partners work through issues surrounding intimacy, infidelity, parenting, financial strain, healthcare, and other common sources of relationship strife.
Teen Counseling
While Talkspace doesn’t offer therapy for small children, it does have a Talk for Teens program. Adolescents aged 13–17 can chat with a therapist via text, audio, or video, and teens are in charge of whether their parents do or don’t join the conversation.
Psychiatry
Unlike the platform’s Unlimited Messaging Therapy model, Talkspace’s psychiatry program is composed of one initial video consultation, with follow-up appointments made as needed. Talkspace psychiatrists can prescribe any medication they deem necessary, with the exception of controlled legal substances, such as Valium, Xanax, and Adderall.
Talkspace and Businesses
Businesses can utilize Talkspace in two ways:
Talkspace for Business
This program allows employer-subsidized access to Talkspace
